UPDATE: We were able to get both class projects and are now using them in our classroom! The children love them!

I have posted a project on DonorsChoose.org for our whole class to get pockets to hold their supplies on the backs of their chairs. You can help us get these much-needed pockets by voting once daily at http://www.limeadesforlearning.com/projects/view/618862/vote  You will also get a free cherry limeade from Sonic for voting!! Vote every day through September 30th.

Also we have another chance at funding through Yahoo. You can vote here: http://www.yahoo.homepagesforhomerooms.com/project_specific_page?project_id=618862&share_source=project_details#.TlLaz5ytFkM.facebook

Today is our first day in kindergarten! We will be learning all about our new school and classroom! Students will have a great time exploring and using manipulatives, puzzles, and literacy games today! They will learn how to "Bee" their B.E.S.T. and about our busy bees that are given out for exceptional work!

At Speas we are the B.E.S.T.! We are always:

B: Being Respectful
    E: Encouraging Others
S: Striving to do our best
        T: Thinking before we act

This will be an exceptional school year!

Science Fair

We finished our science project titled "Will it Sink or Float?" We tested a penny, grape, and cork in water, oil, and honey to see which objects would sink or float in which liquids. We made some interesting discoveries! We found that the honey was the most dense liquid, and went to the bottom of the jar, and the water was next, and then the oil floated at the top. The penny was the most dense object and sank to the bottom of all three liquids, the grape floated on top of the honey but sank in the oil and water, and the cork floated on top of all three liquids. Our project was displayed in the media center for Science Fair Night on Thursday, February 3rd. Here are some pictures of our experiment:
